Myth: Will eating sugar make my cancer worse?
Fact: No. Although research has shown that cancer cells consume more sugar (glucose) than normal cells, no studies have shown that eating sugar will make your cancer worse or that, if you stop eating sugar, your cancer will shrink or disappear.
Myth: Cancer is contagious.
Fact: There’s no need to avoid someone who has cancer. You can’t catch it. It’s OK to touch and spend time with someone who has cancer. Your support will give them a boost to fight against cancer.
Myth: Antiperspirants make you more likely to get breast cancer.
Fact: There aren’t any strong studies that suggest you have a greater chance of getting breast cancer when you try to tame your sweat or smell with these products.
Myth: For most cancers, a biopsy will cause cancer cells to spread.
Fact: During a biopsy, a doctor takes a small sample of cells from your body to check it for cancer. It doesn’t spread your cancer. In fact, a biopsy is the most important investigation for cancer diagnosis and it is a valuable tool in deciding the type of treatment also.
